The GTVDD2AA is the one you want for your new TV.Item: 194328479720 Gefen Digital Audio To Analog Audio Adapter/Converter GTV-DIGAUD-2-AAUD.
Make sure you purchase the correct adapter for your needs. The GTV-DIGAUD-2-AAUD does a fine job with optical to stereo but WILL NOT give you anything but silence if you input a Dolby 5.1 signal. Overall Review: I purchased this AFTER first purchasing the Gefen GTV-DIGAUD-2-AAUD.
GEFEN DIGITAL TO ANALOG AUDIO CONVERTER TV
Based on my experience with the unit I purchased, I would recommend this to anyone who needs to connect their new Optical Audio Out only TV to their legacy stereo equipment. Gefen talks about this on their site and the problem has been fixed. Also, the popping issue some have talked about is non-existent with the unit I have. I think my surround sound sounds as good or better than it ever did.
And it DOES output an analog Dolby Surround signal. Converts both plain stereo and Dolby 5.1 to analog very nicely. My Kenwood AMP has no other Audio In than ANALOG. The 55LW6500 has no other Audio Out than OPTICAL. Pros: I purchased this to connect my newly purchased LG 55LW6500 TV to my 20 year old Kenwood AMP. This forced me to reach around back to do all this every time i wanted the unit to work. This would not be a problem except that when I turned the stereo back on, to get the unit to function, i had to disconnect the power plug from the adapter unit itself to get it to recognize the Dolby output of the blueray player. It must have some internal caps or something that hold charge when outlet power is turned off that keeps the thing going for enough time. Overall Review: Also, I would have thought that I could plug the power adapter to the switched AC output of the audio equipment and have this adapter turn on/off only when needed. So if you want to listen to the audio of a favorite Blueray of standard DVD, expect your amp to fight to overcome all the changing audio coming from this unit. Each time the audio format changes, a VERY LOUD POP is caused as the internal circuit kicks on or off the Dolby. When playing a DVD on the player, the audio sections change format from titles, previews and main feature. Cons: This unit was purchased to provide a conversion from the digital audio output of my new blueray player to legacy audio system that has not digital audio input.
